On July 1, 2010, two new annual conference will be born in the Northeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. One new conference will include the churches of the Central Pennsylvania Annual Conference and congregations of the Wyoming Annual Conference located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The other will include all of the churches that make up the Western New York Annual Conference, the North Central New York Annual Conference and the churches in New York State that are now part of the Troy Annual Conference and the Wyoming Annual Conference. At the same time, the New England Annual Conference will expand to include all of the congregations of the Troy Annual Conference located in the State of Vermont.
In New York, a group known as New ACT (New Area/Conference Team) is working to develop a plan for the new conference which will be located in what will be called the Upper New York Episcopal Area. A similar group, called the Vision Team is doing the same for the new annual conference which will occupy the Harrisburg Episcopal Area.
