WELCOME TO THE WYOMING CONFERENCE SAFE SANCTUARIES WEBSITE
"God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual and ritual abuse. God calls us to create communities of faith where children and adults grow safe and strong." In response to that call, delegates to the 1996 General Conference adopted a resolution entitled "Reducing the Risk of Child Sexual Abuse in the Church" (page 384 in the 1996 Book of Resolutions). In that resolution, local churches and annual conferences were called to take certain steps to develop and implement plans to accomplish those goals. The General Board of Discipleship (GBOD) and the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) were charged with developing, identifying and promoting resources to assist churches and conferences in doing their part. As a result, the Safe Sanctuaries movement has grown, based on resources published through GBOD.
The Wyoming Annual Conference is committed to the holistic well being of each child, youth and adult entrusted to it through its organization and its individual congregations. To that end, we are providing links to resources that you may find helpful for making your chuches safe places; protecting members, vistors and staff; becoming familiar with our clergy sexual ethics policy; and finding help if you have encountered a problem.
